01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of Bukit Rimau, Shah Alam, LITTLE NYONYA KITCHEN invites you on an authentic journey through the rich and aromatic world of Nyonya cuisine. This charming restaurant and caterer offers a warm and inviting atmosphere where traditional flavors meet friendly service, creating the perfect backdrop for a satisfying meal.

The star attraction here is undoubtedly their array of classic Nyonya dishes that bring the Peranakan heritage alive. The Nyonya Curry Laksa (MYR 14.90) is a vibrant bowl brimming with layers of flavor — creamy, spicy, and wonderfully fragrant, loaded generously with fresh ingredients that awaken the palate. If you crave something from Penang’s culinary roots, the Penang Hokkien Mee (MYR 12.90) and Penang Char Kuey Teow (MYR 12.90) deliver nostalgic taste sensations, though some find the char kuey teow a touch oily, balancing indulgence with richness.

For rice lovers, the Nasi Lemak with Curry Chicken (MYR 13.90) and the signature Nyonya Chicken Pongteh with Rice (MYR 12.90) highlight the traditional slow-cooked flavors — hearty, comforting, and deeply satisfying. Many guests praise the curry chicken’s explosion of aromatic spices and perfect tenderness.

No Nyonya meal is complete without sampling the delightful kuih. LITTLE NYONYA KITCHEN’s selection of kuih lapis, kuih talam, and ondeh-ondeh (all priced at MYR 1.80) are colorful, subtly sweet, and satisfying little bites that disappear faster than you expect. Regulars recommend arriving early for these treats, as they sell out quickly.

Customers often note the generous portions — ideal for those with hearty appetites — and appreciate the attentive, friendly service that makes every visit feel personal and authentic. The sugar-on-the-side approach with desserts like chendol shows thoughtful attention to customer preferences.

Despite a few minor critiques, such as the slightly less impressive cendol compared to Penang standards or the occasionally refried-tasting cucur udang, the overall experience remains compelling. The vibrant flavors, welcoming ambiance, and carefully crafted menu make LITTLE NYONYA KITCHEN a beloved spot for both quick snacks and full-flavored feasts.

Whether you’re a devotee of spicy, aromatic Nyonya cuisine or a culinary explorer eager to dive into local Malaysian flavors, this cozy establishment promises a memorable and heartfelt dining experience that beckons you to return again and again.

Nice clean cafe. Friendly staff and good food portions. I had the nyonya curry laksa. Pretty loaded with ingredients and tasty too. Also had the char Kuey teow, a bit on the oily side. Also had the fried Pan mee. No complaints. Chendol was ok but far from Penang Standards. It was good that they put the sugar on the side. Will return for the Hokkien Mee

Very nice place to have a quick snack … a little enjoyable time. The nyonya kuih is great, but you've to be early because by before noon, it's gone. The staff are friendly, the bosses take you like long known friend.

We ordered the cendol, and the portion was quite generous — enough for two people to share. We also tried the mee hoon siam with curry chicken. The curry chicken was flavorful and suited my taste well. For desserts, we got some kuih — they were decent and worked as a quick fix. However, the cucur udang was a bit disappointing. The color looked like it had been re-fried, rather than freshly cooked.

newly opened in the area. just right opposite of hero market. varieties of nyonya kueh selections here, soft and not too sweet, perfect for tea time with family. foods are good, serving time is fast too. i like that the drinks are in sealed cup which is hygienic and can take away if can't finish it. price is reasonable. very friendly owner and staff are attentive too. recommended

This place had a branch on the other side of Kota Kemuning, close to Hero. They open one branch now in Bukit Rimau. I tried the other branch and did not enjoy the food. Today I tried the food in Bukit Rimau branch, it seems much better. At 9am it was very crowded and full, so I decided to take away. Tried the Mee Siam with chicken wings and mochi kacang. Both are really nice. Fried chicken is really good. Will be back to try some other dishes. They cater as well.

An intermediate shop right opposite Hero Hypermarket. We try the Nyonya Laksa and it is quite good, soup is full of flavour and bit spicy. Whereas for the Char Kuey Teow is average, not salty enough and lack of taste. Environment is cozy and comfortable to dine in. Price is slightly on high side
